Job Purpose
This role supports the UNDP Regional Hub for Latin America and the Caribbean and the global Team for Open and Inclusive Public Sphere by designing four key publications. The primary assignment involves creating the final layout and graphic design for the Atlas of Innovation in Public Communication, which highlights approximately 60 innovative public communication cases. Additionally, the volunteer will design an accompanying guide to public communication (approx. 40 pages) and two primers on polarization for development practitioners (each approx. 20 pages). The work must adhere to UNDP's graphic design and branding guidelines.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will produce the layout and graphic designs for four distinct publications under guidance and in collaboration with the team. This includes the visual design and layout for the Atlas of Innovation in Public Communication, featuring around 60 case studies. Responsibilities also extend to designing an accompanying guide to public communication (approximately 40 pages) and two primers on polarization for development practitioners (each approximately 20 pages). All designs must align with UNDP's corporate design guidelines, which will be provided. This role offers an opportunity to learn about strengthening democracy and institutions through graphic design.
Work Experience
Professional experience as a graphic designer is required, preferably within sustainable development, multicultural contexts, or for international organizations. Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign is essential. Experience in creating visually appealing layouts and adhering to branding guidelines is also necessary.
Skills
Strong graphic design skills, including expertise in typography and color theory. Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Ability to work independently, deliver creative solutions, and adhere to project objectives and branding guidelines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
