The WHO Country Office in Kuwait, established in June 2021, supports the Ministry of Health and national institutions in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3. It provides technical assistance on specialized health topics, implements capacity-building initiatives, and fosters dialogue on national health priorities. Job Purpose
This role supports the WHO Kuwait's efforts to enhance the scientific rigor and methodological quality of its public health research manuscripts and technical studies. The Online Volunteer will contribute to evidence generation, scientific quality assurance, and knowledge dissemination, aligning with SDG 3. The assignment focuses on providing expert advisory and technical support to ongoing research related to oral health, health financing, and global health architecture, ensuring high-quality scientific output that informs national health priorities and policy recommendations.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will provide advisory and technical support for public health research manuscripts and studies in collaboration with the WHO Kuwait technical team. Key duties include reviewing and providing technical feedback on manuscripts and scientific papers, advising on research methodologies, study design, and analytical frameworks to enhance scientific rigor. The volunteer will also support the validation of research methods, offer recommendations for improving data interpretation and analysis, and contribute expert input on public health research standards, evidence generation, and scientific reporting. Additionally, support will be provided for refining manuscript structure, academic language, and methodological consistency.
Work Experience
Required experience includes a PhD in a relevant research field or an MSc with proven experience in conducting and publishing public health research. Strong knowledge of research methodologies, study design, and data interpretation in public health is essential. Experience in reviewing academic manuscripts, technical reports, or scientific publications is highly desirable.
Skills
Essential skills include strong knowledge of research methodologies, study design, and data interpretation in public health. Excellent analytical, academic writing, and communication skills in English are required. The ability to provide constructive, detail-oriented, and evidence-based technical feedback is crucial. Fluency in English is desirable.
