Job Purpose
This assignment seeks a Programme Support Officer to assist UNDP Kuwait in coordinating and preparing support for the government, with a primary focus on environmental preparedness, monitoring, and risk assessment. The role will contribute to strengthening national systems to mitigate and respond to potential environmental impacts arising from the current regional crisis. The position requires integrated analytical, research, and coordination support to ensure evidence-based decision-making and effective stakeholder engagement. The UN Volunteer will collaborate closely with programme, operations, and technical teams to support the design, implementation, and monitoring of UNDP's technical assistance to national counterparts, aligning with UNDP's comparative advantage in addressing environmental and socio-economic impacts.
Responsibilities
The Programme Support Officer will be responsible for data collection and analysis, including supporting rapid assessments of environmental risks associated with the regional crisis, analyzing environmental trends, and consolidating quantitative and qualitative data, particularly on environmental indicators. This includes data cleaning, basic statistical analysis, and developing visualizations for decision-making. The role involves research and knowledge development, contributing to analytical inputs, reports, concept notes, and technical proposals focused on environmental dimensions of the crisis, and identifying best practices. Programme and project support includes coordinating activities, assisting in organizing meetings and workshops with environmental stakeholders, supporting stakeholder mapping, tracking progress, and documenting outputs. Administrative and operational support will involve logistical coordination, maintaining project documentation, and assisting with administrative processes. Communication and reporting duties include preparing internal and external communication materials and contributing to programme progress reports.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is required in environmental sustainability, environmental monitoring, or related fields. Experience in data collection, analysis, and research is essential. Experience supporting programme or project implementation in development or public sector contexts is also required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary, with familiarity in data analysis tools being an asset. Experience with government institutions or international organizations is desirable.
