WFP Democratic Republic of the Congo
Assistant/e au Programme
Organizational Context
The World Food Programme (WFP) is a leading humanitarian organization dedicated to saving lives and transforming them by providing food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. In 2026, the Democratic Republic of Congo faces a complex humanitarian crisis with security, social, and climate challenges, exposing populations, especially women, children, and indigenous peoples, to protection risks. WFP is strengthening its community-centered approach, focusing on accountability to affected populations (AAP), protection, and feedback mechanisms.
Job Purpose
The Community Volunteer will serve as the focal point for accountability to affected populations (AAP) and support feedback mechanisms within communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role involves bringing these mechanisms closer to the communities by facilitating their access, understanding, and utilization. This position is crucial for enhancing WFP's community-centered approach amidst a complex humanitarian crisis characterized by security, social, and climate challenges. The volunteer will play a key role in ensuring that the needs and concerns of vulnerable populations, including women, children, and indigenous peoples, are heard and addressed, contributing to effective protection and humanitarian response.
Responsibilities
Support the implementation of AAP, Protection, and Feedback and Complaint Mechanism (CFM) activities at the community level, facilitating affected populations' participation and improving access to feedback channels. This includes raising community awareness on their rights, WFP services, and complaint mechanisms; organizing community meetings and consultations; gathering beneficiary feedback; and facilitating communication between communities and WFP teams. The role involves informing communities about available complaint channels, supporting the registration of feedback, and directing beneficiaries to appropriate channels. It also requires monitoring the accessibility of mechanisms for vulnerable groups and alerting supervisors to sensitive complaints. Additionally, the volunteer will assist in collecting community data, identifying local needs and risks, reporting service access difficulties, and supporting field activity monitoring. Promoting inclusive participation of vulnerable groups, raising awareness on PSEA, identifying access barriers, and fostering respectful dialogue are also key. Finally, the volunteer will participate in community sensitization sessions on AAP, Protection, and complaint mechanisms, and support local partners in their community interactions.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, one year of relevant experience is desirable, particularly with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or humanitarian projects.
