Job Purpose
The Communication UNV will play a vital role in supporting WHO's mission in Cabo Verde by developing and implementing effective communication strategies. This involves creating tailored communication products, documenting impact stories, and fostering collaborations with media and stakeholders to advance health development goals and secure necessary resources for the country's health sector.
Responsibilities
The UNV will develop and implement communication strategies, campaigns, and events to boost WHO's visibility and advocacy for partnerships, fundraising, and health issues in Cabo Verde. Key duties include producing diverse communication materials such as press releases, success stories, presentations, social media content, website updates, newsletters, and annual reports tailored for partners and stakeholders. The role also involves documenting and disseminating program achievements and impact stories that highlight partner contributions, monitoring stakeholder perceptions of WHO, and recommending communication strategies. Additionally, the UNV will provide guidance and training to staff on partner-sensitive communication approaches and develop health promotion content to raise awareness of evidence-based health interventions.
Work Experience
The role requires experience or demonstrated interest in media and social media activities, volunteering, or supporting health and social projects. Familiarity with the WHO/UN system, health cluster partners, or relevant non-governmental/humanitarian organizations is desirable. Experience in designing and implementing communication products like websites, press releases, reports, and social media content is also beneficial.
Skills
Essential skills include excellent oral and written communication, strong social skills, and proficiency in designing and elaborating websites, press releases, reports, and social media content. Demonstrated interest or experience in media and social media activities, volunteering for health projects, and familiarity with the UN system are also key. Additional desirable skills include photographic abilities and knowledge of Artificial Intelligence.
