Job Purpose
This role supports UNICEF Togo's Child Survival component, specifically the Nutrition output, to improve access to nutrition services for children and mothers in development and humanitarian settings. The Associate Nutrition Officer will contribute to designing and implementing innovative approaches, supporting community-level interventions, and promoting infant and young child feeding practices. The position aims to address the high rates of malnutrition and stunting in Togo, ensuring vulnerable populations, including those affected by emergencies, receive essential nutrition services. The role involves technical assistance, program monitoring, and contributing to achieving the country program's objectives by 2026.
Responsibilities
The Associate Nutrition Officer will provide technical, operational, and administrative support for the UNICEF Nutrition component in Togo. Key duties include assisting in the design and implementation of innovative nutrition service delivery approaches in specific regions, supporting Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) mother support groups, and contributing to the Baby-Friendly Hospitals Initiative. The role involves participating in program monitoring, evaluation, and reviews with government and partners, including financial monitoring and donor reporting. Additionally, the officer will document program achievements, provide technical support during field visits to government partners, and perform other tasks aligned with program objectives.
Work Experience
While no prior experience is strictly required, demonstrated interest or experience in nutrition programming, particularly community nutrition or infant and young child feeding support, is beneficial. Familiarity with IYCF support groups, analytical, organizational, and writing skills are important. Experience working in a developing country is desirable, and previous experience with UN agencies like UNICEF is considered an asset.
