Job Purpose
The Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Specialist will deepen and strengthen partnerships with UNICEF's public and private sector donors and partners in Senegal. This role supports the Partnerships, Advocacy, and Communications section by ensuring quality assurance in donor reporting and proposal development, and by assisting in the implementation of the Country Office's resource mobilization strategy. The Specialist will coordinate internal efforts, exchange knowledge, mobilize resources, and advocate for funding to achieve UNICEF's goals for children. The position aims to influence public policies, foster social engagement, and direct resources towards children's rights and well-being within Senegal.
Responsibilities
The Specialist will support the Chief of Partnerships, Advocacy, and Communications in refining the resource mobilization strategy and developing action plans. Key duties include contributing to concept notes, project documents, and communication strategies; coordinating with program sections to ensure data accuracy for proposals; developing donor engagement concepts; and monitoring financing levels against targets. The role involves scanning the external environment for opportunities and risks, supporting meetings with donors and partners, and increasing engagement with internal and external stakeholders to enhance UNICEF's advocacy and visibility. Additionally, the Specialist will ensure timely submission of quality donor reports, build capacity in reporting, strengthen grant management, and advise on donor agreements. The position will also support innovative fundraising initiatives, analyze partner trends, and develop donor recognition and visibility plans in collaboration with the communications team. The incumbent may also supervise other UNVs.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is required in areas such as partnerships, resource mobilization, fundraising, communication, marketing, philanthropy, public affairs, program management, or external relations. Experience in emergency contexts, with donors, in drafting proposals, donor reporting, grant management, or engaging with the private sector is advantageous. Experience with UNICEF or UN agencies is a plus. Fluency in English and French is required.
Skills
Key competencies include expertise in gender equality, social work, child protection, human rights, social mobilization, community development, and peace and social cohesion. Strong communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills are essential. Excellent writing and editing abilities in English are required. The role demands self-starting capabilities, flexibility, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Familiarity with digital tools for resource mobilization and partnership management is an asset.
