Job Purpose
This UNV position will provide crucial technical and programmatic support to UNICEF Peru's WASH initiatives. The role is integral to UNICEF's strategy for enhancing sustainable, equitable, and safe access to WASH services for children, considering gender equality and climate resilience. The volunteer will contribute to improving policy documents, advocacy, and the development of WASH tools and protocols. Key contributions include supporting the implementation and monitoring of WASH interventions, integrating climate change adaptation, promoting gender perspectives, and systematizing best practices to ensure safe water and sanitation for all children in Peru.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support UNICEF Peru's WASH area by providing technical and programmatic assistance to improve sustainable, equitable, and safe access to WASH services in development and emergency contexts, focusing on children's rights, gender equality, and climate resilience. Key duties include: - Supporting the development of policy documents, promotional materials, and technical summaries. - Participating in intersectoral dialogue and advocacy for comprehensive WASH policies. - Providing technical assistance to local governments, educational institutions, and health facilities. - Developing intercultural and gender-sensitive WASH tools and educational materials adapted to the climate context. - Supporting the implementation and monitoring of WASH interventions with a climate resilience approach. - Integrating gender perspectives across all WASH activities. - Contributing to the systematization of good practices in WASH. - Monitoring key WASH indicators and contributing to reports. - Overseeing program resource use and reporting compliance. - Participating in monitoring, field visits, evaluations, and progress reporting. - Supporting UNICEF's humanitarian response to WASH emergencies. - Contributing to inter-agency coordination for humanitarian response. - Participating in capacity-building for vulnerable communities. - Collaborating with government counterparts and partners on WASH interventions. - Supporting requisitions for WASH supplies and services.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 3 years of national or international experience in designing and implementing development programs, policies, and projects related to water, sanitation, and hygiene. Experience in gender issues, behavior change, resilience, climate change, and working with vulnerable populations is valued. Experience with UN or international development organizations is desirable.
Skills
