Job Purpose
The Partnerships Associate, reporting to the Partnerships and Communication Team Lead, is responsible for managing the end-to-end process of partnership development, resource mobilization, and project identification within the UNOPS North Africa Multi-Country Office. This role is critical for strengthening UNOPS' strategic positioning and expanding its project pipeline in the region. The Associate ensures the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of all partnership engagement transactions, effectively communicates complex procedures to stakeholders, and actively seeks opportunities for process improvement. By fostering strong relationships and identifying new business opportunities, the position directly contributes to the office's mandate and its ability to deliver impactful projects.
Responsibilities
The Partnerships Associate supports the identification and development of new projects and business opportunities aligned with UNOPS' mandate and strategic priorities. This involves conducting research on development priorities, donor strategies, and emerging needs to pinpoint potential areas for UNOPS engagement and preparing project development documents such as concept notes and proposals. The role also entails mapping and analyzing potential funding and partnership opportunities with a diverse range of stakeholders, including governments, UN entities, donors, and the private sector, and maintaining an up-to-date overview of key partners and funding mechanisms. Furthermore, the Associate contributes to the Multi-Country Office's strategic planning by analyzing development trends and supporting the preparation and monitoring of action plans. Communication and knowledge management are key, involving targeted support to partnership activities, documenting project results, and contributing to UNOPS' visibility.
Work Experience
Requires six years of relevant work experience in partnership development, resource mobilization, or project management, particularly with governments and international donors. Experience in professional proposal writing is essential. Previous experience in North Africa, familiarity with Google Suite, and experience with UN agencies are desirable.
