Organizational Context

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Africa Regional Office oversees over 250 projects across 40 countries, focusing on fragile and conflict-affected settings. Based in Dakar, Senegal, the West Africa Multi-Country Office (WAMCO) delivers project management, infrastructure, and procurement services across 16 countries. This role supports national initiatives in Togo, strengthening operational, analytical, and reporting capacities for the project portfolio.

Job Purpose

The Project Management Support Officer provides essential operational, analytical, and administrative support to ensure the effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of project data, generating actionable insights through analysis, and facilitating smooth coordination between project teams, support units, and external partners. By ensuring timely activity execution and adherence to UNOPS policies, the officer contributes to evidence-based decision-making, improved project performance, and the overall success of development initiatives. The position may also involve field missions to support data collection and stakeholder engagement, reinforcing project systems and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include managing project data by collecting, validating, and analyzing information to ensure accuracy and reliability, and developing databases and dashboards for real-time monitoring. The role involves supporting project implementation through planning, budgeting, and execution, preparing project documentation, and coordinating workshops and stakeholder consultations. Administrative, financial, and procurement support is provided by assisting with procurement plans, market studies, budget monitoring, and processing financial transactions. Furthermore, the officer develops and maintains monitoring systems, contributes to strategic decision-making through data analysis, and supports internal evaluations and donor reporting. Knowledge sharing is fostered by assisting with training sessions and contributing to project management best practices.

Work Experience

Required experience includes project management or related fields, and demonstrable proficiency with collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems. Experience working in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in developing countries, as well as in development or humanitarian contexts, is desirable.
