Organizational Context
The UNOPS Africa Regional Office, based in Nairobi, supports over 250 projects across 40 countries, focusing on fragile and conflict-affected settings. The North Africa Multi-Country Office (NAMCO) in Tunis oversees operations in Algeria, Egypt, Libya, and Morocco, delivering project management and support services. This role is critical for identifying new project opportunities and cultivating partner relationships within this dynamic development landscape.
Job Purpose
The Partnerships Analyst will significantly contribute to the development of new projects, foster strategic partnerships, and enhance resource mobilization efforts for UNOPS across its Multi-Country Office (NAMCO) countries. This role is instrumental in identifying and cultivating business opportunities, building strong relationships with donors and partners, and advancing the resource mobilization pipeline. The incumbent will actively support the strategic positioning of UNOPS by articulating its capabilities and expertise to key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with UNOPS' mandate and regional development priorities. The position is crucial for driving UNOPS' growth and impact in North Africa and Indian Ocean SIDS.
Responsibilities
The Partnerships Analyst will support the development of new projects, partnerships, and resource mobilization strategies under the Partnerships and Communication Team Lead. Key duties include identifying and assessing potential project opportunities aligned with UNOPS' mandate, analyzing development priorities and donor strategies to pinpoint engagement areas, and leading the development of project proposals and concept notes. The role involves coordinating with internal teams and external partners to define project requirements and formulating initial project requests. Additionally, the analyst will map and assess funding opportunities with various stakeholders, contribute to the resource mobilization pipeline, and build/maintain effective working relationships with partners. Strategic planning involves analyzing development trends and contributing to country action plans. Communication and knowledge management support for partnership activities are also key functions.
Work Experience
Two years of relevant work experience is required with a Bachelor's degree. Experience working directly with internal and external partners, including governments and international donors, is essential. Professional proposal writing experience is also a mandatory requirement. Previous experience in North Africa, proficiency with Google Suite, and experience with UN agencies are considered desirable.
