Job Purpose
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Intern will support the implementation of UNOPS' DEI initiatives, with a primary focus on community engagement. This role involves providing hands-on assistance to five Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), the internal DEI network, and related activities and communications. The intern will gain practical experience in fostering an inclusive workplace and may contribute to other projects within the People and Culture Group. This internship offers a comprehensive immersion into DEI work, including strategic communications, social impact metric tracking, and fostering inclusive communities within a large international organization, providing a cross-functional perspective on strategic planning and operational execution.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide community engagement support by coordinating Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and internal DEI networks, assisting with meeting logistics, material preparation, and communication flow. They will help track participation, activities, and impact, and support cross-ERG coordination and activities related to the Youth Engagement Platform. The role also involves coordinating DEI activities and initiatives, including organizing meetings, workshops, and events, taking meeting notes, and tracking action points. Communications support includes drafting and preparing internal communication materials, disseminating DEI messages, and coordinating campaign timelines. Finally, the intern will offer administrative and operational support to the DEI team, including scheduling, documentation, and managing DEI email platforms.
Work Experience
While no prior work experience is strictly required for this internship, previous experience in human resources, social justice, diversity and inclusion, social inclusion, disability inclusion, special education, psychology, or social pedagogy would be considered an asset.
