Job Purpose
The Head of Programme (HoP) reports to the Country Office Director, responsible for leading programme development, planning, and management across all stages to achieve strategic results. This leadership role is crucial for developing and implementing strategies that enhance UNOPS' capabilities and standing in sustainable project management. The HoP ensures effective service delivery to partners, stakeholders, and UN system entities, contributing to the overall success and impact of UNOPS operations within the region and aligning with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
The Head of Programme is accountable for overall programme governance, implementation, and monitoring, including portfolio oversight, establishing and executing implementation plans, and ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery aligned with UNOPS standards and partner expectations. This includes supervising the Programme Management Office, managing risks, and mentoring Project Managers. The role also involves developing country office strategy, identifying new engagement areas based on political and development trends, and managing programme resources (human and financial). Furthermore, the HoP is responsible for building strategic partnerships, supporting business development, advocating for UNOPS competencies, and ensuring effective communication and knowledge management, including leading capacity-building initiatives.
Work Experience
Requires significant experience in strategic and managerial leadership within public affairs, business development planning, and operations in large corporate or international organizations. Experience in multicultural environments, UN system organizations, or developing countries, particularly in development or humanitarian contexts, is desirable.
