Organizational Context
The UNOPS Africa Regional Office oversees over 250 projects in 40 countries, focusing on fragile settings. The Central Africa Multi-Country Office (CAMCO) in Kinshasa, DRC, has partnered with UN agencies, international organizations, and governments since 1999, providing fund management, technical assistance, and capacity-building across critical sectors. CAMCO supports national priorities through strategic initiatives in areas like infrastructure, health, and peacebuilding.
Job Purpose
The Partnerships Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing partnership and programme development plans to expand UNOPS' portfolio and mobilize resources. This role focuses on cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with governments, UN agencies, donors, and other stakeholders to enhance UNOPS' position as a reliable development partner. Key objectives include ensuring partnership initiatives align with global and regional priorities, contribute to sustainable results, and support the achievement of strategic office objectives, thereby strengthening UNOPS' presence and impact in the region.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive partnership and programme development plans, analyzing the country and regional landscape to identify key partners and strategic opportunities. Monitor humanitarian and development trends to identify collaboration areas aligned with UNOPS' mandate. Research and track emerging trends to drive new partnerships and contribute to the formulation and negotiation of new projects and programmes, including drafting concept notes and project briefs. Establish and strengthen partnerships with diverse actors, including UN agencies, governments, and private sector organizations. Represent UNOPS in coordination forums and contribute to UN common planning processes. Implement standards and tools to enhance partnership development effectiveness, contributing to knowledge sharing and the application of best practices.
Work Experience
Requires experience in international development, focusing on partnership and programme development plans, project development, proposal writing, and establishing partnerships with UN agencies, international organizations, governments, foundations, or private sector entities. Experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country is desirable.
