Project Management Support - Senior Associate
Organizational Context
The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO) supports partners in delivering sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding initiatives globally. Operating across over 130 countries, GPO collaborates with governments, financial institutions, and UN agencies, offering project management, fund management, and HR support. This role is part of a UNODC-supported program in Latin America and the Caribbean focused on strengthening regional capacities to combat corruption and financial crime.
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Management Support Associate provides essential substantive, technical, and operational assistance for projects aimed at enhancing national capabilities to combat corruption, financial crime, and money laundering. This role supports the design, execution, and delivery of technical assistance, policy dialogue, capacity-building activities, and inter-institutional cooperation initiatives. By ensuring close coordination with national institutions, regional partners, and international actors, the Associate contributes to the effective implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and other relevant international standards, aligning project execution with UNOPS' operational procedures and objectives.
Responsibilities
Monitor and report on project implementation, ensuring alignment with approved work plans, technical assistance initiatives, and program objectives. Support the preparation of project work plans, progress reports, analytical updates, and donor reports. Oversee the execution of technical assistance activities, including workshops and training, ensuring proper follow-up on recommendations. Collect, organize, and analyze relevant information on corruption, financial crime, and institutional responses to inform project implementation and reporting. Maintain comprehensive project documentation for monitoring, evaluation, and audit purposes. Assist in identifying implementation challenges, operational risks, and emerging needs, contributing to mitigation strategies. Support the planning, design, and execution of technical assistance activities related to corruption, money laundering, financial crime, and asset recovery. Prepare technical materials, background documents, and presentations. Facilitate collaboration with government institutions, anti-corruption bodies, law enforcement, and civil society. Provide operational and administrative support for project activities, including coordinating logistics for workshops, meetings, and missions. Assist in preparing Terms of Reference, consultancy agreements, and purchase orders. Coordinate with Finance, Procurement, and HR units to facilitate administrative processes. Maintain project correspondence and filing systems. Support the preparation and monitoring of project budgets, financial forecasts, and expenditure reports. Review project expenses and financial transactions for compliance. Support procurement processes and maintain financial and procurement documentation.
Work Experience
Required: Relevant experience in project implementation, technical assistance, research, or institutional strengthening. Demonstrated experience coordinating activities with government institutions, international organizations, or other stakeholders. Proficiency in collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems. Desired: Experience supporting projects related to corruption, financial crime, or international cooperation. Experience within the UN system or international development organizations. Experience in multicultural environments, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean.
