Organizational Context
The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO) supports sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding globally. Hosted by UNOPS, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) works at the intersection of energy, climate, and development, aiming to end energy poverty and combat climate change. The Executive Office Team provides crucial support to the CEO/SRSG, leadership, and the Governance Board, ensuring effective leadership and strategic direction.
Job Purpose
The Special Assistant to the CEO and UN SRSG plays a critical operational role within the Executive Office. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this position is responsible for managing the CEO/SRSG's executive workflows, coordinating high-level stakeholder relations, and synthesizing analytical briefings. The role ensures the CEO/SRSG is fully prepared for significant engagements, including international summits and UN-Energy proceedings. A key function is driving systematic follow-up on initiatives with both internal teams and external partner networks, contributing directly to the organization's strategic objectives and the advancement of sustainable energy goals worldwide.
Responsibilities
The Special Assistant will coordinate the daily execution of workflows and strategic priorities for the CEO/SRSG, ensuring preparedness for high-level engagements and international missions. This includes drafting comprehensive briefing materials, speaking points, and analytical notes. The role involves managing the CEO/SRSG's schedule, prioritizing engagement requests, and overseeing meeting minutes and follow-up actions. Additionally, the Special Assistant will support the CEO/SRSG on international missions, coordinate mission reporting, and act as a liaison with key stakeholders. Research and analytical tasks on emerging energy transition issues and climate finance will be conducted, contributing to executive knowledge-sharing across program teams.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in executive management support, administration, partnerships, or diplomatic support is required. Proven experience supporting senior leaders within international organizations, government, or public sector entities is essential. Experience in preparing executive briefings, drafting talking points, and organizing international missions or summits is desirable.
