Architectural Engineering Technician - Senior Associate

The Horn of Africa Multi-Country Office (HAMCO) in Addis Ababa delivers project management, procurement, and infrastructure services across Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Sudan, with a focus on health, agriculture, and economic development. This role supports critical infrastructure and building projects within HAMCO.
Job Purpose
The Architectural Engineering Technician Senior Associate provides specialized technical support for architectural and engineering design, ensuring high-quality design documentation and coordination for infrastructure and building projects. This role applies professional principles to manage service delivery, contributes to process improvements, and maintains the integrity and accuracy of design outputs. The position is crucial for the effective implementation of development initiatives aimed at expanding access to healthcare, education, energy, and livelihoods in underserved regions, directly supporting HAMCO's mission of sustainable development and regional stability.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the preparation of CAD drawings, 3D models, renderings, and design documentation for infrastructure and building projects, including preliminary designs. Utilize relevant software to prepare drawings detailing materials, technical specifications, dimensions, and construction requirements. Produce architectural drawings (plans, sections, elevations, site layouts) and structural drawings (floor plans, columns, beams, reinforcement detailing) based on professional inputs. Prepare drawings for sanitary, electrical, and mechanical disciplines. Ensure drawings align with instructions and technical specifications. Support the revision and updating of design drawings, translating technical instructions into accurate outputs. Participate in technical coordination meetings and site visits, assisting with site assessments and identifying drafting-related issues. Maintain organized records of drawings and project documentation, and support the preparation of as-built documentation.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in preparing architectural and engineering drawings using AutoCAD, REVIT, or equivalent software is required. Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential. Experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country is desired.
