Job Purpose
The Biomedical Engineering Technician - Associate will join the health technical team, supporting the Ministry of Health's efforts to strengthen the health system's resilience. This role involves travel across Madagascar to assist with evaluations, monitoring, coordination, and the reception, installation, and quality assurance of medical equipment. The position is crucial for ensuring the effective deployment and functionality of vital medical technology, contributing directly to improved healthcare service delivery and the overall success of UNOPS health projects in the country.
Responsibilities
Under the Senior Biomedical Engineer's supervision, the Associate Technician will support the multidisciplinary UNOPS health team. Key duties include assisting with site visits and hospital space verifications for equipment reception, contributing to technical reports on medical technology, and coordinating the delivery, installation, and commissioning of medical equipment. The role also involves supporting quality assurance activities, monitoring supplier progress, aiding in the establishment of a preventive maintenance program, and collaborating with administrative support for logistical optimization. Additionally, the technician will assist in training local biomedical technicians, conducting inventory, and deploying CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of relevant experience in biomedical engineering is required with a high school diploma. One year of experience is required for candidates with an engineering degree in biomedical, electrotechnical, electronic, electromechanical, or electrical fields. Hospital internship experience is desirable.
