Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Pakistan, operating under the South Asia Multi-Country Office (SAMCO), supports the country's progress towards Sustainable Development Goals. This HR Assistant role is part of the HR Services team, providing comprehensive HR support to UNOPS partners.
Job Purpose
The HR Assistant is responsible for performing a range of HR tasks to support office personnel across various HR service lines. This role ensures consistent HR service delivery by managing information flow and acting as a key point of contact for internal clients. The incumbent will handle recruitment processes, prepare documentation, monitor progress, and address HR-related queries. By maintaining accurate HR information systems and supporting HR operations, the HR Assistant contributes to the efficient functioning of the HR department and the overall achievement of UNOPS objectives in Pakistan.
Responsibilities
The HR Assistant will manage the recruitment process for international consultants, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and tracking request statuses. This includes drafting and preparing offers of appointment, monitoring recruitment stages, and escalating issues. The role involves guiding clients on HR policies, maintaining recruitment systems, and addressing personnel queries. Additionally, the HR Assistant will prepare visa and permit applications, input and extract data from HR information systems, and verify HR-related claims and benefits. Support will be provided for contract monitoring, renewals, and personnel action forms. Maintaining attendance, leave records, and personnel files, along with compiling HR statistical data and collecting training opportunity information, are also key duties. The role includes participating in HR training and contributing to knowledge networks.
Work Experience
Required experience includes working in any area of Human Resource Management (HRM) and proficiency with collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems. Experience in multicultural environments, the UN system, or developing countries is desirable, as is experience in development or humanitarian contexts.
