Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (ECR) manages operations across 12 countries, providing technical expertise and infrastructure solutions. The UNOPS project office in Tashkent, established in 2023, focuses on supporting healthcare infrastructure and service delivery in Uzbekistan, including pandemic response and oncology services development. This ICT Associate role supports these critical health initiatives.
Job Purpose
The ICT Associate is responsible for ensuring the secure, effective, and client-focused delivery of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services within UNOPS operations in Uzbekistan. This role supports the implementation of ICT strategies, oversees the management of infrastructure and systems, and provides essential technical guidance to enhance service quality and operational reliability. The incumbent will contribute to network and systems administration, ensure business continuity, potentially supervise ICT personnel, and coordinate effectively with UNOPS Headquarters and other UN entities to maintain robust ICT operations supporting project delivery.
Responsibilities
The ICT Associate will manage and administer ICT client services, ensuring efficient user support and adherence to UNOPS policies. This includes implementing ICT operational strategies, maintaining an inventory of hardware and software, and ensuring timely updates and patches. The role involves network administration to guarantee stable connectivity and secure systems, including managing hardware maintenance agreements and implementing business continuity and disaster recovery measures. Additionally, the Associate will provide advice on ICT aspects of project implementation, manage hardware and software procurement processes, and act as a liaison with local UN partner agencies on ICT matters. The position may involve supervising ICT personnel and contributing to knowledge sharing by organizing and delivering ICT training for staff.
Work Experience
Required experience includes working in information technology, utilizing office software packages (MS Office 2010+), managing Active Directory, Windows servers, and network infrastructure. Experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country, as well as experience in development or humanitarian contexts, is desirable.
