Job Purpose
The Finance Senior Analyst supports the Head of Treasury Middle Office and Control in developing a robust control function for UNOPS' global operations. This pivotal role focuses on strengthening the Treasury Control Framework and enhancing risk oversight. Key responsibilities include implementing system-based process controls, ensuring alignment with the UNOPS Internal Control Framework to safeguard financial transactions and valuations, and conducting in-depth risk assessments and compliance reviews. The Analyst collaborates with other second-line functions to improve the transparency and resilience of treasury operations, ensuring adherence to financial regulations and best practices.
Responsibilities
The role involves coordinating and conducting Know-Your-Customer (KYC) processes for banking and trading counterparties, assisting with sanctions screening, and performing risk-based monitoring of financial counterparties. Responsibilities include gathering and verifying data for liquidity, cash management, and FX exposures, maintaining the Treasury Risk and Control Matrix, and updating bank account signatory records. The analyst will continuously monitor treasury workflows (payments, cash pooling, FX trading, investments) to prevent errors and fraud, oversee bank-to-book reconciliations, and act as an escalation point. They will assist in drafting and enforcing Treasury Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policy documentation, coordinate audit documentation, lead compliance reviews, and collaborate with risk functions. Additionally, the role requires validating treasury data across enterprise systems, configuring control mechanisms within treasury systems, and developing key performance and control metrics for executive dashboards. Process optimization, training delivery on control tools and procedures, and sharing best practices are also key duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes work in banking or treasury in a control function, with technical proficiency in controlling, monitoring, and valuing financial instruments like Fixed Income, Money Markets, and Foreign Exchange (FX). Experience in middle-office or internal control is highly desirable. Knowledge of KYC, AML, and sanctions screening, as well as experience with treasury technology and systems, are advantageous.
