Job Purpose

The Civil Engineer (Budget Specialist) is responsible for reviewing design and construction activities to ensure projects remain within budget and meet high-quality standards. This role involves applying best practices in technical design and construction management throughout the project lifecycle, adhering strictly to Health, Safety, Social, and Environmental (HSSE) standards, and Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH) requirements. The incumbent must demonstrate strong technical expertise, proactive resource management, and the ability to ensure integrity, transparency, and effective stakeholder coordination in all civil engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support in the analysis of engineering project budgets, recommending adjustments as needed. Offer technical assistance to project recipients, focusing on budgeting and planning for engineering projects. Review all project-related documents and licensing. Propose solutions for the execution of works, specifically for food storage units. Ensure project execution adheres to all relevant standards, regulations, and plans, including safety, health, environmental, social, and quality plans. Participate in project planning, monitoring, and evaluation meetings as requested.

Work Experience

Required experience includes working in budget engineering, planning engineering, or related fields. Desirable experience includes working in multicultural environments, with United Nations system organizations in developing countries, or in development/humanitarian contexts.
