Project Management Support - Associate
Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is the UN's operational arm, supporting partners in implementing peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development projects globally. The Global Portfolios Office (GPO) leads multi-regional initiatives, working with governments, financial institutions, and UN agencies to deliver project management, fund management, and HR support services. This role supports the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Ukraine.
Job Purpose
The Project Management Support Associate provides essential support for the planning, coordination, and execution of project activities. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient operations and timely delivery of project objectives by collaborating closely with project managers and local stakeholders. The associate facilitates smooth project progression, maintains effective communication, and ensures adherence to project frameworks and internal UNOPS processes, contributing directly to the successful implementation of UNODC's mandate in Ukraine.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting project planning and preparation, such as stakeholder engagement, needs assessments, and capacity-building program development. The role involves assisting with budget projections, procurement processes, and risk identification. The associate will coordinate logistics for training sessions, workshops, and meetings, and support the development of training materials. Monitoring, reporting, and compliance are critical, involving the development of tracking tools, collection of documentation, and contribution to reports. Operational and logistical support includes coordinating procurement, travel, and inventory management, as well as supporting HR requirements and managing project files. The role also contributes to knowledge building and sharing through participation in learning sessions and communities of practice.
Work Experience
Required experience includes project management, administration, operational, and logistical support. Proficiency in collaboration tools (MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems is necessary. Demonstrated ability to work independently under tight deadlines is essential. Previous experience in Ukraine and adapting to challenging environments is also required. Experience in multicultural or UN environments, or in development/humanitarian contexts, is desirable.
