Job Purpose
This role supports the UNOPS/24330 Technical Cooperation Project, "Strengthening education infrastructure management for traditional peoples in Brazil." The Senior Engineering Associate will focus on the supervision of construction works, ensuring adherence to UNOPS policies, standards, and regulations. The position is crucial for achieving Result 2.3 of the project, which aims to strengthen the management capacity for educational infrastructure, particularly for indigenous and quilombola communities. The role contributes to the successful completion of unfinished school construction projects, thereby improving educational quality and access for these communities.
Responsibilities
The Senior Engineering Associate will provide technical advisory on construction and supervision contracts, actively monitoring and participating in infrastructure works. Key duties include supporting procurement processes, managing technical, administrative, and financial controls, and ensuring adherence to standards and protocols during execution. The role involves specialized tasks such as document review, measurements, equipment and subcontractor monitoring, and quality control documentation. Responsibilities also include preparing monthly progress reports, participating in project meetings and field inspections, and managing contract-related information. The associate will collaborate with specialists in social impact, gender, diversity, inclusion, and HSSE to align project activities and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality plans.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in works supervision or infrastructure execution is required, or three years combined with a bachelor's degree. Knowledge of material quality control is mandatory. Experience producing reports using tools like Google Sheets and Docs is essential. Experience in FIDIC contract management, managing UN infrastructure contracts, and prior experience within the UN system or other international organizations are desirable.
