Job Purpose
The Project Management Office (PMO) Specialist is responsible for enhancing strategic, operational, and governance frameworks to ensure effective project and program design, prioritization, and implementation aligned with UNOPS and partner objectives. This role supports strategic planning and portfolio oversight, assuring delivery according to UNOPS standards and promoting best practices in project management. The Specialist ensures consistent application of methodologies, policies, and tools, enabling data-driven decision-making, optimal resource utilization, and the successful delivery of sustainable results.
Responsibilities
Key duties include contributing to strategic oversight and advice on project management activities, supporting the development and revision of project budgets and staffing plans, and establishing resource tracking systems for enhanced planning and delivery. The role involves facilitating project setup, monitoring dependencies, managing project assets and administrative matters, and overseeing project closure processes, including asset disposal and financial closure. Additionally, the PMO Specialist prepares and reviews project reports, assesses performance against scope, cost, schedule, and quality criteria, and implements monitoring and evaluation systems. They analyze delivery data, provide financial insights for decision-making, and coordinate project management initiatives. Quality assurance involves ensuring compliance with UNOPS standards, policies, and audit requirements, collaborating with relevant teams, and coordinating quality reviews of project documents and deliverables.
Work Experience
Required experience includes work in project management or related areas, with demonstrable proficiency in collaboration and productivity tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems. Experience in multicultural environments, UN system organizations, or in development/humanitarian contexts is desirable.
