Organizational Context
The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO) supports sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding globally. The Education Outcomes Fund (EOF), part of GPO, aims to transform education financing and delivery by shifting focus to measurable learning and employment outcomes, especially for disadvantaged children. This role is within the EOF team.
Job Purpose
The Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Intern will support the MEL Lead in designing new EOF programs, monitoring the execution of evaluation strategies across existing programs, and generating knowledge and evidence. This role is crucial for ensuring that EOF's initiatives effectively contribute to its strategic objectives of sustainability and advocacy, by providing robust data and insights into program effectiveness and impact. The intern will play a key part in the continuous improvement and accountability of the fund's operations.
Responsibilities
Support the design and implementation of EOF’s program evaluation strategy by providing administrative and coordination support for procuring external evaluators, assisting in developing evaluation methodologies and frameworks, and researching appropriate measurement tools and indicators. Help design learning agendas and sustainability frameworks by drafting research questions and mapping data collection methods. Participate in MEL discussions with stakeholders, including scheduling and note-taking. Support evidence generation and knowledge management by identifying learning opportunities, assisting with data collection and analysis, tracking deliverables, and supporting the dissemination of findings and knowledge products. Document EOF’s MEL approach and support internal knowledge sharing, while ensuring adherence to data protection requirements.
Work Experience
Required: Exposure to research, evaluation, or education work through professional experience, volunteer work, internships, or academic projects. Desired: Professional experience in education, research, or evaluation roles; coursework in research design and mixed-methods impact evaluations; familiarity with MEL frameworks and tools; experience in complex contexts; and a demonstrated interest in evaluation, education, or international development.
