Organizational Context
The UNOPS Asia Pacific Regional Office oversees operations across 17 countries, focusing on strengthening partnerships and maximizing impact through diverse sectors like infrastructure, health, and project management. The East Asia and Pacific Multi-Country Office (EAPMCO), established in 2023, provides strategic direction and operational support for projects in areas such as energy transition and climate change.
Job Purpose
This internship role supports the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP) program within UNOPS. The intern will be integrated into project teams, contributing to project planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder coordination under the supervision of the Senior Programme Manager. The internship offers a structured learning plan with clear objectives, mentoring, and feedback, aiming to develop core competencies in project management, analytical thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement. The goal is to provide meaningful responsibility and hands-on experience, fostering professional growth and contributing to the ETP's objectives.
Responsibilities
The intern will conduct research and analysis on energy sector developments, particularly energy transition issues in Southeast Asia, providing updates and reports. Responsibilities include researching projects and partners, assisting with project implementation, preparing project documents, and developing communication materials. The role involves supporting project activities, event planning, procurement processes, and improving project management procedures. Data collection and processing for reports, daily communication with stakeholders, taking meeting minutes, and preparing briefing materials are also key duties. The intern will provide general project management support as needed.
Work Experience
Required experience includes demonstrated desk-based research and analysis skills, synthesizing information from multiple sources, and clear presentation of findings. Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is essential. Desired experience includes work in international development, project management, or administration, familiarity with energy/climate change concepts, and experience in research and report writing related to energy transition.
