The New York Portfolio Office (NYPO) specifically assists UN Secretariat and other New York-based organizations, focusing on diverse operations and global initiatives. This role supports the UN Youth Office, a system-wide anchor for youth affairs, aiming to strengthen UN capacity for youth engagement and advance global youth commitments.
Job Purpose
The Programme Management - Senior Analyst provides critical substantive and operational support for the UN Youth Office's key initiatives. This involves assisting in the planning, implementation, and coordination of flagship events, strategic processes, and multi-stakeholder partnerships. The role focuses on strengthening ecosystem engagement, building communities of practice, supporting high-level advocacy, and ensuring integrated program delivery across thematic areas like youth participation, skills development, mental health, and climate action. Success requires robust program management, stakeholder engagement, and coordination skills within a dynamic, high-visibility environment.
Responsibilities
The Senior Analyst will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of flagship programs and initiatives for the UN Youth Office, contributing to the annual workplan and high-level youth convenings. Responsibilities include coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives, managing partner engagement processes, and strengthening global youth network strategies. The role involves supporting the UN Youth Compass initiative and its community of practice, conducting ecosystem analysis, and developing engagement frameworks. Additionally, the analyst will assist in advocacy efforts for youth priorities, manage engagements for the Young Leaders for the SDGs program, and support influencer outreach. Coordination with UN climate partners and youth constituencies on climate action is also a key duty, alongside monitoring program implementation, maintaining coordination tools, and contributing to reporting and knowledge management.
Work Experience
Required experience includes progressively responsible roles in program management, youth affairs, partnerships, or policy coordination. Experience supporting multi-stakeholder initiatives, coordinating diverse partner groups, organizing events, and drafting reports or strategic communications is essential. Desired experience includes working on youth issues within the UN system, partnership development with civil society or the private sector, and climate-related youth engagement.
