Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is an operational arm of the UN, supporting partners in peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development projects globally. The Global Portfolios Office (GPO) leads multi-regional initiatives, working with governments and UN agencies to deliver project management, fund management, and HR support. This role supports the UNODC Programme Office in Tajikistan, strengthening project delivery quality, efficiency, and accountability.
Job Purpose
The Project Management Support Officer provides essential operational, analytical, and administrative support to ensure the effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects aligned with UNOPS policies and partner requirements. This role is crucial for efficient project delivery by managing data, supporting reporting, procurement, financial, and logistical activities. By collecting, validating, and analyzing project data, the incumbent generates insights to inform evidence-based decision-making and enhance project performance. The position also facilitates coordination among project teams, partners, and support units, ensuring timely activity implementation and procedural compliance. Field missions may be undertaken to support data collection, training, and stakeholder engagement, thereby strengthening project systems and reporting tools.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include comprehensive data management, analysis, and reporting, involving data collection, cleaning, validation, and the development of databases and dashboards for real-time tracking. The role supports statistical and qualitative analysis to inform decision-making and prepares analytical reports. Project implementation and operational support involve assisting with planning, budgeting, and execution, preparing project documentation, coordinating workshops and missions, and liaising with support units on procurement and payments. Procurement, financial, and administrative coordination includes supporting procurement plans, conducting market research, monitoring budgets, and processing financial transactions. The role also contributes to monitoring, evaluation, and strategic decision support by developing monitoring systems and tools, supporting performance reviews, and providing inputs for donor reporting. Finally, it involves knowledge building and sharing through training support and participation in knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Work Experience
Required experience includes work in project management or related areas, and demonstrable proficiency with collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems. Desirable experience includes working in multicultural environments, UN system organizations, or in development/humanitarian contexts.
