Job Purpose
The Communications Associate plays a crucial role in enhancing UNOPS' visibility and reputation by developing and implementing effective communication strategies. This position is responsible for creating and editing diverse content, including web stories, press releases, and social media posts, ensuring adherence to corporate style and partner requirements. The associate also supports external communications and media relations, assisting in the coordination of events and campaigns. This proactive role involves managing content production, contributing to communication planning, and providing essential administrative support to ensure communication plans are executed successfully and contribute to UNOPS' overall objectives.
Responsibilities
The Communications Associate is responsible for implementing communication strategies to boost UNOPS' visibility and outreach nationally, regionally, and globally, ensuring deliverables meet partner requirements and UNOPS guidelines. This includes drafting, editing, and proofreading various communication materials such as web stories, newsletters, press releases, and social media content, as well as supporting the production of multimedia products. The role involves coordinating communication inputs for events, workshops, and campaigns, and serving as a point of contact for internal communications. Additionally, the associate will assist in managing media relations, supporting crisis communication efforts, and contributing to outreach materials. Administrative support includes developing Terms of Reference, preparing requisitions, and maintaining inventories, while also supporting gender-responsive communication activities and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Work Experience
Requires relevant experience in communications, public relations, media, or journalism. Experience working in multicultural environments, within the UN system in a developing country, or in development/humanitarian contexts is desirable. Experience in content development for grassroots audiences and proficiency with graphic design, video production, and content creation tools are also beneficial.
