Job Purpose
The Logistics Officer, under the Support Services Manager, is responsible for the effective delivery of procurement and logistics services. This involves ensuring compliance with UNOPS rules and regulations, implementing best practices in international public procurement, managing risks, and achieving value for money. The role requires analyzing and interpreting regulations to provide solutions for logistics and procurement challenges, maintaining a client-focused, quality, and results-oriented approach with the highest ethical standards. The position contributes to the efficient and timely delivery of goods and services essential for project success within the region.
Responsibilities
The role involves implementing operational logistics strategies, ensuring full compliance with UNOPS rules and policies, and managing an effective client-oriented logistics system. Key duties include supporting logistics, warehousing, and handover processes, participating in evaluation and award processes, and managing contracts. The officer provides technical support for logistics, plans and implements appropriate logistics systems including warehousing and transport, and coordinates activities for timely, cost-effective, and safe delivery of goods. This includes arranging transportation, monitoring shipments, and liaising with freight forwarders. Additionally, the role focuses on developing and managing supplier rosters, monitoring contractor performance, advising project managers on procurement issues, and drafting agreements. The officer also develops monitoring tools, ensures proper documentation, coordinates budget preparation, and assists with payment processes, while ensuring regular communication with stakeholders and improving SOPs for smooth operations.
Work Experience
Relevant experience is defined as working in supply chain management, logistics, asset management, or procurement within national or international public or corporate organizations. Experience with collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems is mandatory. Experience in multicultural environments, UN system organizations, or in development/humanitarian contexts is desirable.
