The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) seeks a Senior Advisor, Partnerships to be based in Beijing, China. This role operates at an Executive Level (IICA 4) and is crucial for supporting engagement with China as a key global partner. Job Purpose
The Senior Advisor, Partnerships is responsible for providing senior leadership in partnership development for UNOPS in the People's Republic of China. Reporting to the Director, Partnerships and Futures Group, this role is accountable for managing the day-to-day relationship with the Government of PRC as a key global partner. Key functions include driving partnership and opportunity development, leading senior-level engagement, providing in-country support for existing UNOPS engagements, and strategically positioning UNOPS within the UN system in China. The role demands a high degree of integrity and professionalism to uphold UNOPS' reputation in this critical bilateral relationship.
Responsibilities
The Senior Advisor, Partnerships will develop and implement the key partner strategy for PRC, ensuring coherence with UNOPS' global strategies. This includes driving and curating the portfolio of key partner engagements, overseeing outreach materials, and cultivating an influential network within Chinese government agencies and state-directed entities. The role involves serving as the lead strategist for opportunity development, anticipating global funding trends, and positioning UNOPS as a preferred implementation partner for China's international cooperation frameworks. Additionally, the advisor will act as the in-country point of contact for key Chinese government bodies and partners, facilitate high-level engagements, and support existing UNOPS advisory engagements. People leadership responsibilities include fostering a culture of trust, diversity, and inclusion, and ensuring the effective and ethical use of resources.
Work Experience
Required experience includes strategic and managerial leadership in international development within a large international organization. Significant experience is needed in relationship management, partner engagement, and leading opportunity/business development processes. Experience working in multicultural environments is also required. Desired experience includes partnering with the public sector, working in development or humanitarian contexts, with UN system organizations, and specifically in or with China.
