Organizational Context

The UNOPS Africa Regional Office oversees over 250 projects in 40 countries, focusing on fragile and conflict-affected settings. The North Africa Multi-Country Office (NAMCO) in Tunis manages operations across Algeria, Egypt, Libya, and Morocco, supporting socio-economic development through projects in health, justice, climate action, and environmental preservation. This role is situated within NAMCO, contributing to the safety and security of its operations.

Job Purpose

The Security Agent (Retainer) is responsible for implementing security measures, responding to security incidents, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for UNOPS partner personnel, visitors, and assets in Tunis. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of UNOPS operations and its partners in Tunisia. It offers exposure to United Nations security protocols and the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, contributing directly to the operational integrity and well-being of all individuals within the premises.

Responsibilities

Daily duties include enforcing visitor control procedures and providing escorts as needed. The agent will operate electronic equipment, such as metal detectors, for searches and conduct inspections of incoming mail and packages. Responsibilities also encompass maintaining and operating fire suppression systems, preventing unauthorized access to the premises, and accounting for organizational assets leaving the protected area. Immediate action is required for security incidents, and the agent must facilitate movement within the premises to meet operational needs. Periodically, the agent will implement ad-hoc security tasks as communicated by the UN agency or UNDSS, and ensure rapid response team deployment within 30 minutes for urgent situations requiring reinforcement.

Work Experience

A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in security, armed forces, police, or protection services is required. Desired experience includes familiarity with CCTV systems, access control systems, and alarm management/monitoring software.
