Job Purpose
The Senior Security Associate provides essential administrative and specialized support to ensure the effective safety and security of UNOPS personnel, assets, and operations in Syria. This role actively promotes a proactive, client-oriented approach, adhering to UNOPS policies and United Nations Security Management System standards. By facilitating timely information exchange and supporting the resolution of security-related issues, the incumbent contributes significantly to maintaining a safe and secure operating environment for all UNOPS activities within the challenging Syrian context.
Responsibilities
The Senior Security Associate is responsible for comprehensive security risk management, including conducting assessments of offices, project sites, and residences, identifying vulnerabilities, and recommending mitigation measures. This includes developing and implementing Security Plans, contingency plans, and business continuity plans, and monitoring compliance with security protocols. The role involves managing security information, documenting and reporting incidents, and maintaining incident databases. Coordination and liaison with local law enforcement, government security agencies, and UN entities are crucial for safe project implementation and facilitating security clearances. The associate also supports security operations, emergency preparedness drills, and the maintenance of security communications and physical security measures, while providing security briefings to personnel.
Work Experience
Requires relevant experience in security operations, including incident reporting, security administration, communications, and warden systems. Proficiency in collaboration tools and web-based management systems is necessary. Experience in multicultural or developing country environments, particularly within the UN system or humanitarian contexts, is desirable.
