Job Purpose

The Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and punctual transportation of authorized personnel, and potentially cargo or hazardous materials. This role requires a high degree of professionalism, courtesy, and discretion, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. The Driver also contributes to administrative and facility support, ensuring smooth daily operations and maintaining essential records and vehicle upkeep.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include providing secure and timely transportation for personnel and cargo, managing mail and document delivery, and assisting with airport arrivals/departures, including immigration and customs facilitation. The Driver must maintain accurate daily vehicle logs and provide usage reports. Regular vehicle checks, minor repairs, and ensuring vehicles are clean and in good working order are essential. The role also involves maintaining all necessary vehicle documentation, responding to accidents according to organizational regulations, and providing administrative support such as obtaining office supply quotes, managing inventory, and coordinating minor facility repairs and maintenance.

Work Experience

Required: Relevant experience in safe driving, defensive driving techniques, and minor vehicle repairs. Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations is essential. Desirable: Experience in multicultural environments, UN system organizations in developing countries, or in development/humanitarian contexts is a plus.
