Organizational Context
The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO) supports UN partners in delivering impact worldwide, focusing on sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding. Operating globally with hubs in New York, Geneva, and Vienna, GPO collaborates with governments, financial institutions, and UN agencies on project management, fund management, and HR support. This role is part of GPO and supports UNOG.
Job Purpose
The ICT Officer - Solutions Architect and Developer is responsible for delivering IT products to support UNOG operations, working under the direct operational guidance of the partner. This role involves developing software solutions, maintaining existing IT products, and contributing to the deployment of new tools. The incumbent will ensure overall application security and provide necessary documentation, playing a key role in enhancing UNOG's operational capabilities through effective IT solutions and support.
Responsibilities
Key duties include Systems Analysis Support, contributing to requirement translation, assessing system integrations, and recommending emerging technologies. Software Development and QA Support involves preparing specifications, developing data models and databases, maintaining and troubleshooting user systems, deploying workflows and online services, and conducting unit, integration, and regression testing. Documentation and Training Support includes preparing technical and user documentation, familiarizing staff with systems, identifying risks, planning for system sustainability, and conducting user training to promote effective system use.
Work Experience
Required experience includes planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of computer information systems. Proficiency in developing and supporting applications using Microsoft tools (e.g., SharePoint, Power Platform, Azure) and high-level programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Javascript) is essential. Technical writing experience is also required. Desirable experience includes Java, ASP.net, Python, API/microservices development, and DevOps practices.
