Organizational Context
The UNOPS Africa Regional Office manages over 250 projects in 40 countries, focusing on fragile and conflict-affected regions. It supports national priorities through initiatives in Climate Action, Health, Infrastructure, Peace and Security, and more. The Central Africa Multi-Country Office (CAMCO), based in Kinshasa, partners with governments and organizations across 15 nations, delivering fund management, technical assistance, and capacity-building in critical sectors.
Job Purpose
The Project Management Support Officer provides essential operational, analytical, and administrative support to ensure the effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects, adhering to UNOPS policies and client requirements. This role is crucial for efficient project delivery by managing data, generating reports, and supporting procurement, financial, and logistical activities. The incumbent will collect, validate, and analyze project data to provide insights for evidence-based decision-making and performance enhancement. By facilitating coordination among project teams, partners, and support units, the officer ensures timely activity implementation and procedural compliance. The role may also involve field missions to support data collection, training, and stakeholder engagement, thereby strengthening project systems and reporting tools.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include comprehensive data management, analysis, and reporting, involving data collection, cleaning, validation, and the development of databases and dashboards for real-time tracking. The role requires conducting statistical and qualitative analysis to generate insights and support the preparation of analytical reports. Project implementation support involves assisting with planning, budgeting, and execution, preparing project documentation, and coordinating workshops and stakeholder consultations. The officer will liaise with support units on procurement and financial processes, track project milestones, and identify risks. Additionally, responsibilities encompass procurement and financial coordination, including market research, bid assistance, budget monitoring, and processing financial transactions. The role also involves developing monitoring systems, contributing to strategic planning models, supporting evaluations, and providing inputs for corporate reporting, alongside participating in knowledge-building and sharing initiatives.
Work Experience
Required experience includes working in project management or related fields, with demonstrable proficiency in collaboration and productivity tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems. Experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations within a developing country is desirable, as is experience in development or humanitarian contexts.
