Organizational Context
The Partnerships and Futures Group (PFG) at UNOPS strengthens partnerships and builds knowledge, innovation, and foresight capabilities to enhance delivery for sustainable development. PFG engages with diverse partners including UN agencies, governments, and the private sector. Personnel are based in Copenhagen and key partner locations like Tokyo, supporting strategic priorities and partner engagement.
Job Purpose
The Partnerships Intern will support the Tokyo Liaison Office (TLO) in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with Japanese organizations, including government ministries, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the private sector. This role is crucial for fostering closer ties with key donors and partners in Japan. The intern will gain practical experience in how UN agencies contribute to sustainable development through collaborative efforts, assisting the TLO in managing portfolios funded by Japanese donors and enhancing UNOPS's presence and engagement within Japan.
Responsibilities
The Partnerships Intern will support partnership building by organizing and attending meetings with Japanese stakeholders, drafting minutes, and conducting research to identify new potential partners. Responsibilities include conducting research and analysis on country data, partner profiles, UNOPS projects, and market trends, as well as reviewing, editing, and translating documents. The intern will also contribute to advocacy and public outreach by maintaining the TLO website and social media presence, and liaising with the UNOPS Communications Group. Coordination support involves monitoring Japan-funded projects globally, assisting with procurement and office maintenance, supporting mission and event organization, and helping with reports, publications, and visibility materials.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required for this internship. However, experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace is considered an asset.
