Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) operates as an operational arm of the UN, supporting peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development projects globally. This role is within the Sustainable Development Cluster (SDC), which provides services to partners worldwide, focusing on grant management, technology support, and special initiatives. The position supports the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Brazil.
Job Purpose
The Project Management Associate [Data] provides essential support for the planning, coordination, and execution of project activities under the Community Drug Studies and Social Development Center (CDESC) project. This role is crucial for maintaining effective coordination with stakeholders, facilitating smooth operations, and ensuring timely and efficient delivery of project activities. By collaborating closely with project teams and stakeholders, the Associate ensures that all project outputs align with the project's results framework and UNOPS' internal processes, contributing to the overall success and impact of the project's objectives in addressing drug-related issues and promoting sustainable community development.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting senior technical leads and project managers in stakeholder engagement, needs assessments, and capacity-building program development. This involves contributing to budget formulation, procurement processes, and risk identification with mitigation strategies. The role also assists in drafting project agreements and budget revisions. For training and implementation, the Associate coordinates logistics for sessions, workshops, and meetings, and supports the development of training materials. They liaise with service providers and stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation and facilitate internal/external communications. In monitoring and reporting, the Associate develops and updates tracking tools, collects and archives project documentation, and contributes to report quality assurance. They track project milestones and ensure compliance with UNOPS and donor policies. Operational support includes coordinating procurement, travel, and inventory management, as well as assisting with HR requirements and managing project documentation systems. Knowledge management involves supporting project management training and learning sessions, participating in knowledge-sharing initiatives, and conducting research.
Work Experience
Required experience includes project management or related fields, proficiency with collaboration and productivity tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite), and experience in quantitative or qualitative research. Desirable experience encompasses public policy research, program monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, and working in development or humanitarian contexts.
