Job Purpose
The Lead Electrical Engineer independently manages electrical engineering projects within UNOPS frameworks, providing authoritative advice and adapting policies to meet client and project needs. This role involves supervising junior staff, solving complex electrical engineering problems, and managing a specific portfolio of work. The incumbent will interact with clients to maintain relationships and ensure reliable service delivery, contributing to the successful implementation of infrastructure projects by ensuring high-quality, sustainable electrical solutions.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and independently manage the electrical engineering aspects of infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. This includes designing, installing, testing, and commissioning electrical systems, including solar power, in compliance with international and local regulations. The role involves developing and adapting policies, supervising and mentoring junior engineers, and solving complex electrical problems. Key duties also include preparing technical specifications, conducting site inspections, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and liaising effectively with government counterparts, contractors, and stakeholders.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, specifically focused on infrastructure projects. Experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling, is essential. Proven ability in stakeholder engagement, coordination, and adapting policies to meet emerging needs is required. Experience in solar system design is also necessary. Experience in developing countries or conflict-affected areas is desirable.
