The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO) supports sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding globally. In Nigeria, the Education Outcomes Fund (EOF), in partnership with the Lagos State Government and other key stakeholders, has launched the Learning and Education Access Fund (LEAF) Nigeria programme. This initiative aims to significantly improve basic education access and quality for children in Lagos State.
Job Purpose
The Programme Coordinator, under the supervision of the Country Lead, is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the EOF-LEAF Nigeria programme. This involves managing stakeholder engagement, overseeing governance structures, monitoring programme performance, and verifying results to ensure the achievement of objectives related to education access, retention, learning improvements, and systems strengthening. The role is crucial for the effective delivery of this large-scale, outcomes-based education initiative.
Responsibilities
The Programme Coordinator will manage key stakeholder relationships, including building influential connections with government entities to champion the program and inform decision-making. They will also manage relationships with implementing partners, identifying and addressing challenges to ensure smooth program delivery. Responsibilities include coordinating programme activities, monitoring progress against plans, and conducting site visits to assess implementation and safeguarding standards. The role involves supporting results verification processes with independent evaluators and partners, coordinating operational and administrative tasks with the EOF Operations team, and contributing to the implementation of the programme's communication and knowledge-sharing strategies to disseminate results and stories.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of relevant experience is required with a secondary school education, or three years of experience with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should be in project or programme implementation, preferably within the development or education sectors in Nigeria. Experience in stakeholder engagement and working with donors and international organizations in Nigeria is also required. Experience with results-based financing or innovative delivery models is desirable.
