Organizational Context
The Partnerships and Futures Group (PFG) strengthens UNOPS partnerships and builds knowledge, innovation, and foresight capabilities. It works across diverse partner segments, including UN agencies, financial institutions, governments, and the private sector, to deepen engagement and accelerate progress toward the SDGs. PFG collaborates with HQ and geographic offices to ensure partner engagement is coherent and aligned with UNOPS strategic priorities.
Job Purpose
The Strategic Partnerships Advisor leads the development and strategic direction of key partner segments and growth segments, reporting to the Chief, Strategic Partnerships. This role is pivotal in driving growth in the volume and value of UNOPS' portfolio and enhancing partner satisfaction. It involves defining mission-aligned value propositions and segment strategies that are fundamental to successful partnership development, opportunity identification, and the refinement of UNOPS' service offerings, ultimately contributing to increased impact and delivery.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement partner segment strategies, supported by market intelligence, to identify and prioritize key partners and growth opportunities. Define segment-based value propositions aligned with UNOPS core service offerings and missions. Monitor segment portfolios for strategic alignment, value, and balance, maintaining visibility of partners, pipelines, and projects. Provide input into opportunity development processes and advise partner-facing personnel on engagement strategies. Leverage partner and business intelligence to inform strategy implementation and produce marketing materials. Drive up technical quality standards for partner leadership and engagement, offering capacity development support. Foster a culture of trust, empowerment, and accountability within the team, promoting diversity, inclusion, and adherence to conduct standards. Contribute to innovation in partner segmentation and share best practices.
Work Experience
Requires deep expertise in at least one key partner segment (UN agencies, IFIs, donors) with a strong track record in partnership development and portfolio growth. Working knowledge of additional growth segments is beneficial. Experience in strategic partnerships, business development, or portfolio management within complex international organizations is essential, including developing and implementing segment strategies and advising senior stakeholders.
