Job Purpose

The Financial Reporting Specialist is responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate financial reporting, providing thoroughly researched financial information for the preparation of the organization's financial statements. This role involves analyzing financial rules, regulations, and accounting standards (IPSAS) to resolve complex financial issues. The Specialist will also supervise support personnel and promote a client-oriented approach, aligning with UNOPS' operational standards and contributing to the credibility of financial resource management.

Responsibilities

Key duties include preparing corporate financial statements in compliance with IPSAS, including supporting schedules and notes, and conducting quarterly/year-end analysis for management review. The role involves providing expert advice on IPSAS application, leading book closure processes, and monitoring transactions for compliance with financial regulations. Proactive identification and correction of data quality issues are essential. The Specialist will also prepare audit reports, support internal and external audits, and manage audit recommendations. Additionally, the role contributes to process improvements, acts as an ERP system subject matter expert, and develops solutions for financial process optimization and automation.

Work Experience

Requires relevant financial reporting experience within an international environment. A thorough understanding of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is essential for this role.
