The Partnerships and Futures Group (PFG) at UNOPS strengthens partnerships and builds knowledge, innovation, and foresight capabilities. It collaborates with diverse partners to deepen engagement and accelerate progress toward the SDGs. The Knowledge, Innovation and Foresight (KIF) team within PFG supports eight thematic missions related to the SDGs, enhancing UNOPS' ability to anticipate needs and trends.
Job Purpose
The Portfolio Officer provides essential coordination, reporting, and analytical support to the secretariat function for UNOPS' thematic missions within the Knowledge, Innovation and Foresight (KIF) team. This role is crucial for ensuring effective communication and information flow across the organization. By maintaining records, managing knowledge products, and preparing insightful reports and analyses, the Portfolio Officer directly contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the thematic missions. Ultimately, this position strengthens UNOPS' overall capabilities in knowledge management, innovation, and foresight, aligning with its strategic goals and commitment to accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsibilities
The Portfolio Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive coordination and secretariat support, which includes organizing meetings, workshops, and events, preparing minutes, and tracking action items. They will facilitate information flow by coordinating with mission leads and relevant teams, and manage internal and external communications. Document management involves collecting and compiling data for reports, preparing progress reports and presentations, and maintaining a repository of key documents. The role also includes conducting research and analyzing data to support mission objectives. Teamwork is essential, requiring collaboration, fostering positive working relationships, and upholding UNOPS standards of conduct, including a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination and harassment.
Work Experience
Required experience includes office management, budget management, project coordination, and front office support, along with experience working in multicultural environments. Desirable experience includes working in development or humanitarian contexts and within UN system organizations.
