Job Purpose
The Associate Civil Engineer supports the complete execution of civil engineering processes from initiation to completion, ensuring integrity and adherence to UNOPS standards. This role involves managing infrastructure projects, guaranteeing quality, explaining procedures to stakeholders, identifying process improvements, and resolving technical issues. The position serves as a focal point for all inquiries within their area of expertise, contributing to the successful delivery of key infrastructure projects within a dynamic development environment.
Responsibilities
Manage the full lifecycle of assigned engineering processes, ensuring quality, timeliness, and technical accuracy. Support the Supervising Engineer in technical, administrative, and financial control of works, including budget preparation and analysis. Assist in preparing technical instructions, variations, and specialized contractual documentation. Transmit and manage contract-related written information internally. Explain complex procedures, regulations, and requirements to diverse stakeholders. Contribute to on-site technical monitoring of infrastructure works, ensuring strict adherence to norms, plans, and specifications. Oversee quality control documentation, execution status, and operational coordination. Proactively ensure processes meet high standards of occupational safety, resilience, and sustainability. Monitor and update work schedules, maintaining performance and cost records for time projections. Prepare monthly project closures by consolidating field data. Assist in drafting monthly technical reports for partners and senior management. Participate in coordination meetings, field inspections, and general support activities.
Work Experience
Required: Minimum 6 years of experience in construction and/or infrastructure supervision (or minimum 2 years with a relevant university degree). Demonstrable experience in managing and executing infrastructure or civil projects. Proven experience in applying quality management, document control, and field project monitoring methodologies.
