Job Purpose
The Treasury Accounting Specialist, reporting to the Chief of Financial Statements and UNBOA Relations, is responsible for the accurate accounting and efficient financial reporting of all treasury-related transactions. This involves analyzing financial regulations, rules, and International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) to provide expert advice on complex accounting matters. The role ensures compliance and promotes a client-oriented approach, contributing to the overall financial integrity and operational efficiency of UNOPS.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include ensuring accurate accounting for a wide range of treasury transactions such as FX derivatives, interest rate derivatives, inflation swaps, equity derivatives, and various fixed income instruments. This involves supporting investment portfolio valuations, managing hedge accounting, and ensuring accurate accounting of financial portfolios, including After Service Health Insurance (ASHI). The role requires maintaining system integrity by reviewing accounting results between the Treasury Management System and ERP, advising on accounting matters for in-house treasury transactions, and ensuring accurate recording of externally managed investments and collateralization postings. Additionally, the specialist will oversee accounting compliance, prepare management reports on portfolio performance and foreign exchange results, support financial forecasting and corporate financial statements, assist with audits, and contribute to process improvements and capacity building within the finance team.
Work Experience
Requires relevant treasury accounting experience within an international environment and a thorough understanding of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Experience with Treasury Management Systems and ERP systems is considered an asset.
