Organizational Context
The Partnerships and Futures Group (PFG) within UNOPS strengthens partnerships and builds knowledge, innovation, and foresight capabilities. It operates through non-programmatic missions to enhance UNOPS' ability to deliver impact. PFG engages with diverse partner segments, including UN agencies, governments, and the private sector, to deepen engagement and accelerate SDG progress. The group collaborates with HQ and regional offices to align partner engagement with UNOPS' strategic priorities, enhancing its positioning and visibility.
Job Purpose
The Senior Manager, Knowledge and Innovation is responsible for establishing and enhancing UNOPS' knowledge, organizational learning, and innovation infrastructure. This role ensures personnel can systematically capture, share, and apply organizational knowledge by developing robust frameworks, systems, processes, and governance. The objective is to make knowledge accessible, support UNOPS' positioning across various partner segments and thematic areas, drive innovation, refine service offerings, and translate delivery experience into actionable learning. By fostering these capabilities, the role aims to enable UNOPS to scale up and accelerate its delivery for greater impact, working collaboratively with mission leads, strategic partnerships, and other internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement knowledge management strategies, work plans, and governance structures, ensuring effective capture, codification, dissemination, and access to knowledge products across UNOPS. Lead the enhancement of frameworks, systems, processes, and tools to support organizational learning and innovation. Establish mechanisms for codifying service offerings to facilitate standardization and replication, thereby accelerating delivery. Collaborate with mission leads and strategic partnerships teams to ensure knowledge generated from delivery and thought leadership is accessible and utilized. Support UNOPS transformation initiatives by advising on knowledge and learning systems. Drive innovation by integrating knowledge and learning with ideation and testing processes. Build knowledge, learning, and innovation capabilities across UNOPS through training, business partnering, and leading communities of practice, while also positioning UNOPS within the broader UN learning ecosystem.
Work Experience
Required experience includes designing and implementing knowledge, learning, and innovation systems across the full knowledge lifecycle, embedding organizational learning into operations, and building capabilities through training and leading communities of practice in complex organizations. Experience in multicultural environments is also required. Desirable experience includes working in development or humanitarian contexts or within UN system organizations.
