Organizational Context

The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO) supports UN partners in delivering global initiatives for sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding. The Performance Management Section (PMS) within the Supply Chain Management Service (SCMS) focuses on enhancing mandate results through data-driven decision-making and Business Intelligence (BI). This role supports projects for the UN Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS).

Job Purpose

The ICT Senior Analyst - Data and Business Intelligence will provide crucial support to the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), and Somalia Security Forces (SSF). The primary objective is to develop, deploy, and manage data collection and analytics-based reporting solutions. This will generate actionable intelligence for senior management and section chiefs, enabling capacity development and strengthening BI capabilities. The role involves implementing the BI strategy and roadmap for UNSOS, delivering standard and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and trending analysis to support mission operations and mandate implementation through improved data management.

Responsibilities

The ICT Senior Analyst will be responsible for performing business and scope analysis, gathering requirements, and documenting them. This includes preliminary system analysis, data cleansing, enrichment, and migration. A key duty is building Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) procedures to refresh Business Intelligence (BI) products from various enterprise systems. The role involves developing and testing BI reports and dashboards, and creating new Power BI applications to digitalize business processes. Quality assurance of BI datasets, monitoring dashboards for issues, and reviewing data collection processes for improvement are essential. Additionally, the analyst will support the establishment of data management standards and strategies, and participate in delivering BI training workshops to partner entities.

Work Experience

A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in ICT, Information Systems, or related fields is required. This must include experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau) and performing data analysis. Desired experience includes working with SAP or other ERP tools, and experience in Supply Chain or related areas.
