Organizational Context
The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO) supports sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding globally. The Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies (SGITT) at the UN Global Service Center (UNGSC) provides critical technology services. This role supports UNGSC's data center operations and IoT/OT infrastructure maintenance, contributing to reliable technology services for UN operations.
Job Purpose
The ICT Associate plays a crucial role in maintaining the optimal environmental conditions for telecommunications and IT equipment within critical data center facilities. By supporting a diverse portfolio of electromechanical, automation, and Industrial IoT systems, the role ensures the full availability, continuous operation, and year-round resiliency of these essential services. This contributes directly to the business continuity of data center clients and supports UN field operations by ensuring reliable access to critical enterprise systems and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
The ICT Associate is responsible for the maintenance of critical data center infrastructure, including performing and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance on systems like HVAC, UPS, generators, and fire suppression. This involves monitoring systems, analyzing alarms, and troubleshooting faults to minimize downtime. The role also supports electrical systems through diagnostics and testing, contributes to energy efficiency initiatives, and assists with renewable energy integration. Furthermore, the associate installs, configures, and maintains IoT/OT hardware and communication protocols, supports cybersecurity best practices, and assists with server maintenance and database integrations. Project support includes developing technical specifications and participating in procurement evaluations. The position also involves providing technical support and training for field missions and participating in emergency response duty rosters.
Work Experience
Required experience includes electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or infrastructure systems support. Practical experience with IoT, OT, ICS, and SCADA systems is essential, as is experience in maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of electrical and industrial infrastructure. Desirable experience includes working with fuel/water monitoring platforms and industrial communication protocols.
