Organizational Context
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) works with states and civil society to prevent drugs and crime from threatening security, peace, and development. The Alternative Development Program, supported by UNOPS, assists communities affected by illicit crops by providing technical and legal support for land tenure regularization. This role supports the Land Unit within this program.
Job Purpose
The Assistant in Topography will support the Land Formalization Unit Coordinator by organizing geographic and alphanumeric information and conducting field missions. This role is crucial for supporting outreach activities and collecting information on applicants and land parcels, including associated land management processes. The position also involves assisting in the documentary organization of projects and programs developed by the interdisciplinary team, ensuring smooth project execution and data integrity for land regularization initiatives.
Responsibilities
The Assistant in Topography will collaborate closely with the Land Formalization Unit. Key responsibilities include supporting the scheduling of community meetings for project socialization, assisting in field missions for project reconnaissance, analysis, and implementation, and coordinating meetings for document collection related to land status. The role involves organizing geographic and alphanumeric information, updating project databases, and maintaining direct communication with the Land Unit coordination regarding land measurement activities and data organization. Additionally, the assistant will support the documentary organization of projects and programs generated by the interdisciplinary team.
Work Experience
Required: Relevant experience in supporting land project management, including community coordination, field visits for land measurement, document collection, and organizing/updating geographic and alphanumeric databases. Desirable: Professional license, experience in land measurement, knowledge of Colombian land regularization laws, proficiency with surveying equipment and software, and ArcGIS/Office Suite.
